Mary Ann Simonson, age 86 of McIntosh, MN and formerly of Fosston, MN passed away on Thursday, April 18th at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 23rd at 11:00 AM at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston with Rev. John Dalen officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 22nd from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour before the funeral at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be at Kingo Lutheran Cemetery, Fosston and the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be sent to carlinhoialmen.com.Mary Ann Elaine Hedman was born December 23, 1926 to Joseph and Edella (Flermoen) Hedman in McIntosh, MN. She was confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh and graduated from McIntosh High School in 1944.On August 31, 1947 Mary Ann was united in marriage to Donald Simonson. They made their home in Grand Forks, ND for a short time, and both worked for Eddy's Bakery. They moved back to McIntosh and Mary Ann worked at local grocery stores. In 1968, Mary Ann and Donald moved to Fosston, MN where she did the books for Ford Garage for a period of time. In the fall of 2009 they moved to Poplar Meadows in McIntosh. Donald passed away in June 2011 and Mary Ann continued to live there until February 2013 when she moved to Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN.Mary Ann enjoyed her family, listening and going to local sporting events, camping, sewing, and visiting with friends. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in McIntosh, American Legion Auxiliary in Fosston, and Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston where she was active in circle and teaching church school.On Thursday, April 18, 2013 Mary Ann passed away at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine at the age of 86 years.She is survived by her children, Mark (Sue Norquist) Simonson of Fosston, Sharon (Chuck) Odegaard of Thief River Falls, Dean Simonson of Grand Forks, and Marilyn (Dale) Branstner of Erskine; 10 grandchildren, Brandy, Chris, Adam, Lisa, Sherry, Kristen, Ross, Malaka, Kevin, and Shannon; 15 great grandchildren, to whom she was known as "GG" for great grandma; sister, Ellen Burslie of McIntosh; brother, Donald Hedman of St. Paul; sisters-in-law, Shirley Simonson of Woodbury, and Ruth Hedman of Fargo; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; grandson, Joey Simonson; daughter-in-law, Pam Simonson; brother, Jaynes Hedman; and brothers-in-law, Dale and Duane Simonson, and Birdean Burslie.
