Marvin Klemmetson

Marvin Klemmetson, age 79, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Sunday, July 19th, at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1st, at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Dan Cole and the Rev. Aage Carlsen officiating. Interment will be held at a later time in Kingo Lutheran Cemetery. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday, August 1st, at the church. Military honors will be conducted by the National Guard Honors Team and the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Marvin L. Klemmetson was born on July 3, 1936 in McIntosh, Minnesota to parents Oscar and Edith (Enerson) Klemmetson. He grew up in McIntosh and graduated from McIntosh High School in 1955.He entered the United States Army in September of 1959 and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. During this time, he traveled to Switzerland, Holland, and France. It was in France at a coffee shop where he met his cousin, Johney Munter, and Johney's bride, Christa. He received his honorable discharge in September of 1961.Marvin was united in marriage to DeAnne Maanum on October 27, 1962 at Kingo Luthran Church in Fosston by Rev. Arthur Reesnes. Throughout the years he worked at Haugstul Auto, LePier's, Bob Lowth Ford as a salesman, and at MDV. He looked forward to each Harvest Season when he could drive grain trucks for Glen and Ellsworth, and he enjoyed the stops at the elevator for visits with the guys over coffee.He was a Drill Squad Commander for several years. Marvin enjoyed camping, fishing, snowmobiling, woodworking, sports events, spending time with family and friends, and his beloved dog, Coco.Marvin passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015 in Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND with his family at his side. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, DeAnne, of Fosston, MN; three daughters, Kari Edith (Keith) Jensen of East Grand Forks, MN, Jill Dagny (Michael) Pacelli of Big Lake, MN, and Sara DeAnn (Dr. Mickey) Syrquin of West Fargo, ND; three granddaughters, Dr. Alli Jensen of Naperville, IL, Lindsey Pacelli of Sartell, MN, and Leah Jensen of Grand Forks, ND; and two grandsons, Brock Oscar Syrquin of West Fargo, ND and Ted Syrquin of Richmond, VA. He is also survived by his sister, Janis (Marvin) Wikstrand of McIntosh, MN; three nieces, Pam (Steve) Hopperstad, Penny Magnell, and Wendy (Tom) Reitmeier; one nephew, Webb (Tami) Fullmer; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Edith Klemmetson.
