Marlys Lindseth, age 86, of Page, ND, and formerly of Erskine, MN, passed away on Friday, June 3rd, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 11th, at Grace Lutheran Church in Erskine with the Rev. Michael Sletto officiating and Deacon Janelle (Hamre) Weum participating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, rural Erskine. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Marlys Joann Lindseth was born on October 1, 1935 in Erskine to parents Bennie and Mabel Hamre. She was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church. Marlys grew up on a farm in the Erskine area and graduated from Erskine High School in 1953.
On October 10, 1953, Marlys was united in marriage to Eivind Lindseth with Rev. Annanias Skogerboe officiating at Grace Lutheran Church. After their marriage, Eivind and Marlys moved to Montana, Iowa, and Ada before making their home in rural McIntosh for 38 years. They moved to Page in 2016 to be near their children.
Marlys was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church. She dedicated her life to caring for others with her family as her first priority and her greatest joy. She also worked as a waitress at Forsell (Hwy 2 & 59) Truck Stop in Erskine, a nurse’s aide at the Wimmer Nursing Home in Ada, and a cook at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine until her retirement in 1997.
She was a kind soul who loved unconditionally and had a great sense of humor. Marlys spoke highly of her children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with her family, making sure nobody went away hungry, gardening and puzzles.
Marlys is survived by her children Carol (Joey) Harbeke of Fargo, ND; Jim (Carol) Lindseth of Page; Dan Lindseth of Page; and Jerry (Rhonda) Lindseth of Page; ten grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are her brother Don (Bev) Hamre of Erskine; sister Elaine Olson of Pelican Rapids, MN; and sisters-in law Shirley Hamre of Wadena, MN, Janet Hamre of Erskine, and Clara Hamre of Erskine.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 66 years, brothers Eugene, Byron, LeRoy “Bud,” Bennett, and Sam Hamre; sisters-in-law Millie Hamre and Amy Hamre; and brother-in-law Mitch Olson.
