Marion Carlson, age 95, from McIntosh, MN passed away on Saturday, May 21st at her home at Poplar Meadows Senior Living in McIntosh. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 26th at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh with Rev. Gordon Syverson officiating. Interment will be in Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery, McIntosh. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Wednesday, May 25th at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Thursday morningArrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home serving McIntosh. Messages of condolence may be sent to carlinhoialmen.com.Marion Bernice Ous was born March 16, 1921 to George and Villa (Nape) Ous in McIntosh, Minnesota, graduating from McIntosh High School in 1938.On October 25, 1941, she married Clarence Carlson after a chance meeting at a church picnic social, and together they raised their eight children near McIntosh, building a successful farm that seven decades later remains in the family today.Clarence and Marion traveled the world, taking bus tours, cruises and trips overseas, while also enjoying their retirement years together on their farm until Clarence died in 1999.Marion was a lifelong member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, and was active in the community through Meals on Wheels, Garden Club, church circle/ladies aid, volunteering for 4-H and teaching release time.She was also a gifted cook who spent hours reading recipes and who, at age 84, authored her own cookbook. She delighted in nurturing others through food, especially hosting holidays and parties when she could feed large groups from behind the countertop of her farmhouse kitchen. But she loved nothing more than her family, and she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister who was never without stacks of family photos near her favorite chair, often looking through them many times a day.Marion was always known for her warmth, kindness and world class hugs, and her unfailing sense of humor and zest for life were truly one of a kind. Nobody had a laugh like Marion.On Saturday, May 21, 2016 Marion passed away at her home at Poplar Meadows Senior Living in McIntosh at the age of 95 years.She is survived by her children Sandra (David) Molstre of Temecula, California, Bonnie (Jim) Klein of Erskine, Minnesota, Bruce (Charlotte) Carlson of Lubbock, Texas, Sharon (Rick) Carlson of Plymouth, Minnesota, Steve (Devra) Carlson of McIntosh, Minnesota, Rick (Cathy) Carlson of Milford, Ohio, Rachel (Rick Grove) Carlson of McIntosh, Minnesota, Rebecca (Gary) Schommer of McIntosh, Minnesota; brother Arvid (Sherry) Ous, of Gilford, Montana, sister Carolyn Brodigan of Red Wing, Minnesota, sister-in-law Lois Ous of Crookston, MN; 23 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 7 great, great grandchildren.She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Villa, her brothers, Gerald and Vernon, and her husband, Clarence.
