Marie Straub, age 94, of Lengby, MN, passed away on Thursday, August 31st, at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 5th, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fosston with Father JohnMelkies Suvakeen presiding. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Beaulieu, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 4th, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fosston. The Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 6:15 p.m. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. All visitation will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Arrangements are with Carlin Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinfuneral.com.Marie Zeta Klinkhammer was born on June 8, 1923 near Beaulieu, Minnesota to parents Jerry and Laura (Kirsch) Klinkhammer. She grew up near Beaulieu and attended rural school. As a young woman she acted as a nanny for several neighbors.She was united in marriage to Anton Straub on October 14, 1948. After their marriage, Marie and Anton lovingly raised their four children on a farm south of Lengby, Minnesota. Marie worked at a sewing factory in Naytahwaush and later for Bagley Livestock.An active member of her community, she served 40 years on the Island Lake Township Board as treasurer and as a fire warden for Island Lake Township. She was a member of Spring Lake V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #2759 of Lengby for 50 years. She was also an active leader at St. Agnes parish in Island Lake. Marie loved to dance, sew, play cards and bingo. She enjoyed gardening and canning the results of her hard work. She loved to spend time with family and visiting with friends. A faithful woman, her loved ones will miss her constant prayers.Marie passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Essentia Health in Fargo, North Dakota at the age of 94 years.Survivors include her children, David (special friend, Lori) of Mahnomen, Patty (Tony) Maruska of Lengby, Danny (Gail) Straub of Lengby, and Marilyn (Dick) Soden of Assaria, KS; grandchildren, Andy, Tom, Jesse (Augusta), Adam (Crystal), Janell (Tim), Amanda (Marc), Jeremy (Kari), Chad (Candice), Ryan, Shelby, Kelsi, and Dayna (Josh); nineteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Viola Hand of Fosston, Lucille (Wilbur) Bjerke of Spokane, WA, and Cecilia Mazour of Mahnomen; four brothers, Clarence (Joyce) Klinkhammer of Missoula, MT, Gerald Klinkhammer (Helen Spaeth) of Mahnomen, Ray (Sandra) of Mahnomen and Donald (Joyce) Klinkhammer of Waubun.She was preceded in death by her husband, Anton in 1985; her parents; two great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Lenora and Vernon Scott, brother and sister-in-law, Alphonse and Rosie Klinkhammer, brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Ann Klinkhammer, brothers-in-law, Francis Hand and Leighton Mazour, and sister-in-law, Theresa Klinkhammer.
