Marian Larson

Marian Larson, age 84, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Saturday, May 27^th, at McIntosh Senior Living. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 1^st, at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. John Ragan officiating. Interment will be in Poplar River Cemetery, Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Wednesday, May 31^st, at the Carlin Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Marian Jean Pederson was born on May 6, 1939, in Greenbush, Minnesota to parents Ole and Alvina Thompson Pederson. She grew up in Greenbush and graduated from Greenbush High School in 1957. In her younger years, Marian cleaned cabins for a resort on Lake of the Woods.

After high school, she attended Thief River Falls Technical College and attained her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She began her nursing career traveling around the country working in Chicago, and Deaconess Hospital in Grand Forks where she met one of her lifelong friends, Ione Tangen. Together they went to Florida to work before settling in Fosston. While working in Fosston, she met DeAnne Klemmetson who became another dear friend. It was through these friendships that she met her future husband, Kenny Larson.

Marian and Kenny were united in marriage on November 14, 1964, at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston. After their marriage, they lived and raised their family in Fosston. Marian worked at the Fosston Municipal Hospital for many years and then at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls until her retirement. Kenny passed away on November 14, 2016.

Marian was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church for many years. She enjoyed golf, reading, making sweets, playing cards and bowling. In recent years, she liked watching Biblical movies and Wheel of Fortune on tv.

Marian passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at McIntosh Senior Living at the age of 84 years.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy (Chris) Dahlen of Thief River Falls, MN; and six grandchildren, Tyler, Gabe, Tegan, Jaekub, Koltyn, and Landyn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenny; infant son, Gary; son, Michael; sister, Doris and twin sister, Mavis; and brothers, Orville, Earl, Walter and Arnie.
