Margith Modin, age 92, of Fosston, MN and formerly of Gully, MN, passed away on Wednesday (December 28th) at First Care Living Center in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday (January 6th) at Samhold Lutheran Church in Gonvick, MN with the Rev. Jill Torgerson officiating. Interment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, rural Gully. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service on Thursday (January 5th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Margith Esther Hagen was born on September 17, 1919 in Clearbrook, Minnesota to parents Martin C. and Emma (Engebretsen) Hagen. Margith was born and raised on a farm at rural Clearbrook. She attended Pleasant Hill School for elementary and high school in both Clearbrook and Fosston.Margith met and married Alvin G. Modin on June 22, 1946 at Concordia Lutheran Church, rural Clearbrook, where she was baptized and confirmed. Three children were born to this union, Janet, Marjorie, and Ronald (recently deceased). They farmed near Olga Store, rural Gully. Later, Margith was a cook at the Gully School and Fosston Elementary School until retirement. She enjoyed time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as well as visiting with her many friends in both Gully and Fosston. Margith was very proud of her gardens, flowers, quilting, and doing fancy work.On Wednesday, December 28, 2011 Margith passed away at First Care Living Center in Fosston at the age of 92 yearsShe is survived by daughters, Janet (John) Nash of Green Valley, AZ, and Marjorie (Glen) Trembath of rural Clearbrook, MN; grandchildren, Eric G. Trembath of Overland Park, KS, Corey (Jill) Trembath of Cottage Grove, WI, and Nathan (Randie) Modin of Cordova, TN; great grandchildren, Lucas and Andrew Modin of Cordova, TN, Kiley Trembath of Wichita, KS, and Rayla Trembath of Cottage Grove, WI; nieces, Susan (Roger) Stabio of Billings, MT, Nancy Bent of Beverton, OR, and Rose (Wayne) Nyland of Clearbrook, MN; and nephew, Brad (Bonnie) Borene of Clearbrook, MN.Margith is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; parents, Martin and Emma Hagen; son, Ronald Modin; brother, Einar Hagen; sister, Gladys (Irvan) Bent; nephew, Duane Strand; and niece, Lois Bent.
