Manfred Albin, age 95, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Saturday (May 3rd) at the Midway Care Center in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday (May 13th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston with Pastor Lois Ball officiating. Interment will be in the Lengby City Cemetery, Lengby. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by the Spring Lake VFW Post #2759 of Lengby and arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston. Messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Manfred Albin was born on April 13, 1913 in Clarkfield, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota to parents Olaf and Ida (Swenson) Albin. He grew up and attended rural school in Yellow Medicine County. Manfred farmed prior to his entrance in the United States Army in October of 1942. He served his country in the 12th Armored Division and the 134th Maintenance Division in the European Theatre during World War II. After he received his honorable discharge in February of 1946, Manfred purchased a farm near Lengby, Minnesota where he lived with his parents. He farmed and did some repair work. Manfred moved to Fosston, Minnesota in 2005 and to the Midway Care Center in December of 2007. Manfred enjoyed carpentry, metal working and hand crafted three model steam engines.Manfred passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at the Midway Care Center at the age of 95 years.He is survived by cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Annie; and niece, Shirley.
