Manferd Svedahl

Manferd Svedahl, age 91, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Tuesday (October 14th) at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (October 18th) at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service on Friday (October 17th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Manferd Albin Svedahl was born on July 22, 1917 in Ashby, Minnesota to parents Ludvig and Anna (Sumstad) Svedahl. He was baptized in Ashby and moved with his family to the Fosston, Minnesota area in 1922. Manferd attended the following rural schools; Moen and Steinbrenner, and was confirmed at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston. Following his schooling, Manferd worked as a farmhand in the area.He was united in marriage to Lorraine Bakken on May 30, 1942 and then became a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston. Manferd started work for Land O' Lakes Milk Drying Plant in 1946, continuing until his retirement in 1979 after 33 years of service. Manferd entered the First Care Nursing Home in Fosston in May of 2006.He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church. He liked fishing, deer hunting, gardening, and playing dice games. He especially enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with his siblings and grandchildren.Manferd passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at First Care Nursing Home at the age of 91 years.He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Lorraine of Fosston; two daughters, Janice (Lowell) Haugen of McIntosh and Sandra (Stan) Linsenmeyer of Marshalltown, IA; six grandchildren, Heather Linsenmeyer, Jeremy (Bonnie) Linsenmeyer, Kirsten (Ben) Barker, Laurie (Dale) Stern, Lynnette Renaud, and Melissa (Eric) Murphy; 12 great grandchildren, Drew Hubbard, Josh Hubbard, Blake Linsenmeyer, Casey Linsenmeyer, Marcus Barker, Lincoln Barker, Alex Stern, Emily Stern, Brandy Renaud, Amanda Murphy, Abby Murphy, and Amaya Murphy. Several sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews also survive.He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Scott Haugen; and nine siblings, Einar, Albert, Leonard, Clara, Dagney, Marvin, Alf, Clifford, and Alfred.Honorary Pallbearers will be Jack Rinkenberger, Norris Halland, Wally Olson, and his Land O' Lakes fellow employees.Active Pallbearers will be Marvin Klemmetson, Glen Tangen, Gabriel Schouviller, Warren Ohren, Daryl Ohren, Orville Skadsem, Donald Schacher, and Flynn Baillie.
