Magdalen "Maggie" Nohava, age 83, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Wednesday (April 21st) at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday (April 24th) at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fosston with Father Dave Super presiding. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service with a rosary and prayer service to be held at 1:00 p.m., all on Saturday at the church. Magdalen Theresa Nohava was born on July 19, 1926 in Rice County, rural Lonsdale, Minnesota to parents Frank and Mary (Malecha) Nohava. She grew up near Lonsdale where she attended Immaculate Conception School for 11 years. She then went to the Good Counsel Academy in Mankato, Minnesota, graduating in 1944. Following school, she returned to Lonsdale and worked at Hlavac Drug Store, Red Owl, and at Dr. Lehrer's office. She then was employed as a housekeeper for Father Charles Jirik at parish houses in towns where he served. Maggie retired in 1988 and moved to Fosston, Minnesota. She lived in the Linda Marie Apartments and Cornerstone Apartments in Fosston. She was currently a resident of First Care Nursing Home. When she first lived in Fosston, Maggie used her sewing talents, providing seamstress services to the community and at Paula Jo's clothing store. She was also involved with many activities at the Embassy Community Center and made many friends there.She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she taught Friday school and sang in the church choir. She enjoyed needle work, sewing, cross stitching, and was known as a good cook and baker. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Maggie was a beloved aunt to her brothers and sisters children. She loved spoiling them with lovely gifts.Maggie passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston at the age of 83 years.She is survived by four sisters, Sister Yvonne Nohava and Sister Rosemary Nohava, both of Mankato, MN, Julia (Roy) Washa of Montgomery, MN, and Theresa Zitzow of Fosston; sister-in-law, Clara Nohava of Lonsdale, MN; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers and five sisters; and five brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law.
