Lynn Siverson, age 93, from Fosston, MN passed away on Wednesday, February 22nd at Essentia Hospital in Fosston. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 3rd at 11:00 AM at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, March 2nd from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston, and there will also be reviewal for one hour before the funeral at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at Brandsvold Cemetery, rural Fosston at a later date, and the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Lynn Herbert Siverson was born November 5, 1918 to parents Christ and Emma (Larson) Siverson in Wheelock, North Dakota, where he attended Brooklyn Consolidated Country School District, and graduated from high school in 1936. His family moved to Minnesota in the late 1930s, and he attended business school in Fargo, ND. While working in the Fosston, MN area he met Lillian Hove.He enlisted in the U.S. Army at the beginning of World War II. While stationed in Oklahoma City, he and Lillian Hove were married on November 14, 1942. After serving his country in the South Pacific, Lynn received his honorable discharge from the Army as a First Lieutenant in March of 1946, and they settled in Fosston. Lynn began working at the Farmers State Bank as a bookkeeper and through the years he was steadily promoted until he became the Cashier and Loan Officer. In 1964, he became majority owner and served as President and Board Chairman until his retirement in 1992. He was very civic minded, and served the Fosston Community as a member of the City Council for nine years from 1963-1972. He was a Charter Member of Fosston Homes, a Trustee of Hope Lutheran Church for many years, and a member of the VFW and American Legion for more than 60 years. In 1977, he was presented with the Fosston Service Award.On Wednesday, February 22, 2012 Lynn passed away at Essentia Hospital in Fosston at the age of 93 years.He is survived by a son, Larry (Ginny) Siverson of Bemidji, MN; daughters, Marcia Hillestad of Apple Valley, MN, and Marilyn (Larry) Strande of Burnsville, MN; six grandchildren, Tina (Russ) DuFresne of Cottage Grove, MN, Dan Siverson of Fargo, ND, Tim (Sara) Strande of Mankato, MN, Ted (Whitney) Hillestad of Sunnyvale, CA, Karisa (Nick) Doyle of Goodyear, AZ, and Signe (Aaron) McKie of Rosemount, MN; twelve great grandchildren, Lili Anna and Dayne DuFresne, Drew and Dylan Strande, Sydney and Soren Hillestad, Annika, Leksi and Boden Doyle, and Lillian, Ellenora and Solvei McKie; special cousin, "sis" Arline Larson; and sisters-in-law, Audrey Siverson, and Ginny Hager; as well as many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 54 years, Lillian in 1997; his son, Dale Arnold Siverson in 1983; brothers, Carl, Olaf, and Irvin; and sisters, Selma Siverson, Esther Johnson, and Ruth Scott.
