Lyle Thompson, age 75, of Mentor, MN, passed away on Friday, August 26th at the University of Minnesota Hospital Fairview in Minneapolis. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 1st at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh, MN with Rev. Gordon Syverson officiating. Interment will be in Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery, McIntosh. Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service on Wednesday, August 31st at the McIntosh Community Center in McIntosh. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Lyle Jean Thompson was born on July 13, 1936 in McIntosh, MN to parents Lloyd and Jessie (Morgan) Thompson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.He attended school in McIntosh. He was inducted into the United States Army in September of 1959. He received his honorable discharge in October of 1961.Lyle was united in marriage to Barbara (Dahlke) Thompson on July 3, 1992 in Wasilla, Alaska. They resided in Big Lake, Alaska where Lyle was employed at Matanuska Maid until his retirement in 2003.Lyle and Barbara moved to Mentor, MN in 2006. Lyle enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, step-grandchildren, visiting with friends & neighbors, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, and restoring John Deere tractors with his son Pat and brother Noel.Lyle passed away on August 26, 2011 at University of Minnesota Hospital Fairview in Minneapolis, MN at the age of 75 years.He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Mentor; his son, Patrick (Cherie) Thompson of Mentor; step-son, Dan Thompson of Jerseyville, IL; step-son, Brian (Mukkove) Johnson of Palmer, AK; step-daughter, Chris White of McIntosh; step-daughter, Kelly (Rick) Phillips of Hutchinson, MN; step-daughter, Christi (Eric) Falen of Jerome, ID; five grandchildren, Justin Abrahamson of Alaska and Jessica, Kendra, Mia & Hana Thompson of Mentor; five step-grandchildren, Maciah, Wyatt & Karissa Johnson of Palmer, AK and Aleita & Cole Falen of Jerome, ID; his sisters, Audrey (Robert) Holm of Mountain Home, AK and Wanda (Richard) LaVoi of Bemidji, MN; and his brother, Noel (Lillian) Thompson of McIntosh; an honorary daughter, Belinda Austin of Encinitaf, CA; as well as many other relatives. He was preceded in death by daughters, Kimberly Thompson & Anna (Thompson) Abrahamson and his parents.Lyle will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
