Lyle Lund Lyle Lund, age 80, of Trail, MN, passed away on Friday (May 2nd) at Essentia Health Living Center in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday (May 7th) at Sand Valley Lutheran Church in Trail with Dawn Hanson, LLM officiating. Interment will be in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, Trail. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Tuesday (May 6th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Military honors will be provided by the Spring Lake VFW Post #2759 of Lengby, Gonvick American Legion Post #304 and the National Guard Honors Team. Lyle Thor Lund was born on September 23, 1933 in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Thor and Ann Moy Lund. He was baptized and confirmed at Sand Valley Lutheran Church in Trail. He attended school in Trail until the eighth grade and graduated from Gonvick High School in 1952. On January 5, 1953, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving as a radio operator during the Korean War. He received his honorable discharge on December 7, 1956. When he returned home, Lyle worked for the Soo Line Railroad. He was united in marriage to Sharon Pladsen on June 9, 1958 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Trail. Together, they farmed and raised their family on their farm near Trail. In 1980 he began work for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier and retired in 1996. Also in 1996, he retired from the Fargo Air National Guard after 20 years of faithful service. Following his retirement, he continued farming and raising beef cattle. He entered the First Care Living Center in September of 2012. Lyle enjoyed going to auction sales, reading, and loved airplanes and tractors. Lyle passed away on May 2, 2014 at First Care Living Center in Fosston at the age of 80 years, seven months and nine days. Survivors include three children, Barbara (Ed) Sellers of Gully, Lyla (Todd) Broadwell of Willmar, MN, and Ryan Lund of Trail; son-in-law, Billy Bushelle of Lengby, MN; sister, Pat Finseth of Thief River Falls, MN; sisters-in-law, Marian Weber of Gully and Geraldine (Vincent) Agnes of Gully; nine grandchildren, Steph (Matt) Hoffman, Kelly Bushelle (Nikki Johnson), Kyle Bushelle, Jaime (Samantha) Sellers, Shawn Bushelle (Brandi Coyer), Kristin Sellers (Dustin Bellefy), Nathan Sellers, Alex Broadwell, and Cody Broadwell; 10 great grandchildren; and other family members also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon; his parents; daughter, Karen Bushelle; and brother-in-law, Francis Weber.
