Lucille Hanford, age 95, of Mentor, MN, passed away on Tuesday, December 8th, at the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 12th, at Faith Lutheran Church in Mentor with the Rev. Michael Sletto officiating. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, rural Mentor. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Covid-19 protocol will be observed and mask use is required to attend. She was their 10th child. She was baptized and confirmed at First English Lutheran Church in Lockhart. She worked in the Post Office there for a time. She married Milton Sykes, of Mentor, on July 3, 1943. They lived in Mentor where she worked at the Mentor Post Office from 1945-1980 and also helped at his Cream Station. She taught Sunday school at Bethel Bible and Faith Lutheran Church for many years.After Milton's death, she married Donald Hanford on November 21, 1969. They lived on Maple Lake for 22 years. In 1981, she adopted Don's four children, Hugh, Bruce, Claire, and Mary. Donald died on January 20, 1992. Lucille moved to an apartment in Mentor in August 1993. For the last couple of years, she has been a resident of Villa St. Vincent in Crookston. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of Mentor and had served on Evangelism Committee and several offices of the Women's group.Survivors include daughters-in-law, Connie Hanford and Bonnie Hanford-Holter, Grandchildren, Pat Hanford & his children, Emily and Joey; Brian (Erna) Hanford & their children, Britta and Adam; Bob Rhode & his daughter, Cassie Bies, and her children; Jayla, Brianna, and Brooke. Jim Rhode, Tracy (Todd) Allrich & their children, Tori (Andy) Wagner & their son, James; Erica and Jayden; Jennifer (Richard) Woods, Blake Kuelbeck and Alec Kuelbeck. Also surviving is one sister, Alice Johnson of Moorhead, MN; and her dear neighbor and friend, Marcy Lentsch; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.She was preceded in death by her husbands, Milton and Donald; sons, Hugh and Bruce; daughters, Claire and Mary; son-in-law, Rod Rhode; granddaughters, Debbie Hanford and Tammy Spitey; sisters, Florence Nygaard and Irene Dittmer; and seven brothers, George, John, Albert, Louis, Raymond, Allen, and Tony Sipe.
