Loren Nesvold, age 66, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Tuesday, February 23rd, at Havenwood Care Center in Bemidji, MN. Due to Covid-19 attendance restrictions, services for Loren will be for family only. The service will however be recorded and available for viewing later in the day on Monday. Loren Philip Nesvold was born on January 20, 1955 in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Elbert and Lucille (Paulson) Nesvold. He grew up in Heier Township, south of Fosston, and graduated from Fosston High School in 1973.
Loren began his military career in the United States Army in 1974. After his honorable discharge, he transitioned to the Army National Guard in which he served in many capacities, including Recruiter and Wheel Mechanic. He was deployed in 2006-2007 as part of the 108th Aviation Battalion during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Loren served full-time in the National Guard, with his last stint in Texas. He retired in 2014.
After his retirement, Loren moved back to the Nesvold home place in Heier Township. He worked some for K & L in Fosston but if you were looking for Loren, you could most often find him on his tractor or in his deer stand. He also enjoyed fishing, hobby farming, and simply being outdoors.
After a courageous battle with cancer, Loren passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 after a short stay at Havenwood Care Center in Bemidji at the age of 66 years.
Survivors include seven children, Angela (Chad) Hanson of Fosston, Samantha Nesvold (Kris Bakken) of Fosston, Chris (Haven) Foldoe of Lengby, Alisha Carlson of Coon Rapids, MN, Joseph Foldoe of Fosston, Christopher Nesvold of Crookston, and Robert (Kari) Nesvold of Little Falls, MN; and numerous grandchildren.
Also surviving are seven siblings, Sue (Dennis) Ehn of North Branch, MN, Lyle Nesvold of Fosston, Rodney (Terry) Nesvold of Severn, MD, Karen Dewandler of Moorhead, MN, Marilyn Briggs of Fosston, Joan Nesvold of Mantorville, MN, and Nina Nesvold of Coon Rapids, MN. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gordy; brother-in-law, Joe Dewandler; grandson, Isajah Carlson; and nephew, Daniel Nesvold.
