Lois (Olson) Storey, age 61, of Grand Forks, ND, and formerly of Fosston, MN, passed away on Wednesday, November 17th, at her home, from a rare form of cancer. She was surrounded by her husband, her daughters, son-in-law, her grandchildren and two sisters. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 27th, at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. John Ragan officiating. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Lois was born to Chester and Elaine Olson on July 10th, 1960 in Fosston, MN. She was a country gal, who grew up on a farm in Fosston, Minnesota. She was the youngest of seven children. She attended Pine Hill country school for six years and graduated from Fosston High School in 1978. Lois was involved with the Girl Scouts organization and enjoyed camping. She volunteered at the Fosston Hospital, and worked at the Fosston Nursing Home. Her heart was into caring for others. She was a 4-H member of Cozy Nook Club. She loved to bake, sew and show cattle at the local county fair.
Lois played the saxophone in the high school band. She was voted Miss Congeniality at the Princess Kay of the Milky Way contest. She was a congenial person, always smiling. Lois was baptized and confirmed at Poplar Lake Lutheran Church. She pursued a degree in nursing at the University of North Dakota. She worked 20 years in that field. Lois was a faithful follower of the Minnesota Vikings! She liked water activities; swimming, boating and water slides. She had an indomitable Christian spirit, as was proven with the many medical adversities she faced starting at age 17.
Lois married Robert Storey on June 14th, 1988 in Grand Forks, ND. They started a blended family. Robert had two daughters and one son and Lois had one daughter. They later added another daughter to the family. They moved to Fosston in 1996. Lois was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, she sang in the choir and volunteered in the Sunday school classroom. She loved the Lord and she instilled those values in her children.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Storey of Grand Forks; daughter Amanda Storey of Fargo; daughter Hope (Aaron) Cymbaluk of Bemidji. Grandchildren Leah, Nehemiah, Adley, and Hudson. Step children Heather Storey of Grand Forks, Sean Storey of Grand Forks and Christina Storey of St. Paul. Step grandchildren Faith, Grace and Jacob. Brothers Bruce (Diana) Olson and Craig (Jen) Olson. Sisters Rebecca (Jim) Flaherty; Cynthia (Darel) Gustafson and Lorrie (Pat) Harris.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother (Chester and Elaine Olson) and brother David Olson.
