Lois Schimanski, age 81, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Sunday (September 25th) with her family at her side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday (September 29th) at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fosston with Father Dave Super presiding. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery-Hansville, rural Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Wednesday (September 28th) and for one hour prior to the service on Thursday, all at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Lois Rebecca Green was born on June 3, 1930 in rural Fosston, Minnesota to parents Ervin and Viola (Hamlin) Green. She grew up in the rural Fosston area and graduated from Fosston High School with the class of 1949. Lois was united in marriage to Howard Schimanski on January 21, 1950. After their marriage, they made their home in McIntosh, Minnesota and opened the McIntosh Bakery. Howard spent his working days at the Bakery and Lois remained home to care for their family of seven children. After many years in business, they sold the bakery to their son, Scott. Lois was married to the love of her life Howard for 49 years and six months until he passed away July 1999. Since that time, Lois has continued to live at home in McIntosh.She was a dedicated member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fosston, was a talented painter and liked antiques. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by five children, Mary Jo (Lonnye) Helgaas of Fond du Lac, WI and their children, Carla Jo, Kaitlin, and Andrea, Amy Renier of Duluth, MN and her children, Michael and Luke, Susanne (Dean) DeFrang of Fosston, MN and their children, Jesse and Elizabeth, Patrick Schimanski of Erskine, MN and his daughter, Madison, and Michael Schimanski of McIntosh, MN; daughter-in-law, Karen Schimanski of Fosston and her children, Kayla and Skyler.Other relatives also survive.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two sons, Mark and Scott.Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Lois' grandchildrenActive Pallbearers will be Karsten Syverson, Clay Syverson, Richard Parent, Frankie Bakken, Ronnie Roed, and Carey Burslie.
