Lois Leikness

Lois Leikness, age 86, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Friday, April 20th, at Ecumen - The Cottages Assisted Living in Detroit Lakes, MN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1st, at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Monday, April 30th, at the Carlin Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be designated to Hope Lutheran Church or Hospice of the Red River Valley. Lois Marie Hasselton was born on January 16, 1932 in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Elmer and Marie Halverson Hasselton. She grew up in Fosston and graduated from Fosston High School in 1950. After high school, she worked for lawyer, Maurie Nelson and at the Famer's State Bank in Fosston. Lois was united in marriage to Leigh "Corky" Leikness on July 5, 1952 in Fosston. After their marriage, they raised their family in Fosston and owned Leikness Electric. She was a life-long member of Hope Lutheran Church where she was active in quilting group and Circle. She was also active in the Heritage house; enjoyed birthday club, coffee parties, American Legion Auxiliary and serving Meals on Wheels. Lois passed away peacefully on Friday, April 20, 2018, with her family by her side, at Ecumen - The Cottages Assisted Living in Detroit Lakes at the age of 86 years.Survivors include three daughters, Pat Scholar of Audubon, MN, Michelle (Wyatt) York of Minnetrista, MN, and Laura (Joe) Kortes of Fargo, ND; six grandchildren, Lindsey Scholar Munns (Jeremy) of Moorhead, MN, Katie Scholar of Moorhead, MN, Jennifer Swenson (Scott) of St. Louis Park, MN, Anthony "Tony" Trout (Martty) of West Fargo, ND, Austin Bergquist of Fargo, ND, and Paige Bergquist of Bismarck, ND; nine great grandchildren, Taylor Scholar, Landon Janich, Addison Melby, Marley Melby, Noahh Melby, Sonja Swenson, Audrey Swenson, Morgan Trout, and Molly Trout; and one sister, Arlys Erickson of Lake Park, MN; brothers and sisters-in-law, John (Joan) Leikness of Frazee, MN, Gary (Linda) Leikness of Thornton, CO and Cleatus Walker of Arkansas. Several nieces and nephews also survive.She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Marie; her husband, Corky; brothers and sisters-in-law, Allen Erickson, Ralph Leikness, Maureen and LeRoy Schipper, Mardella Walker, and Clarice and Lowell Collins; and nephew, Mark Erickson.
