Lloyd Melugin

Lloyd Melugin, 78, of Erskine, MN, passed away on Sunday (April 20th) at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday (April 24th) at Saron Lutheran Church, rural Erskine with the Rev. Alan Arneson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Military rites will be conducted by the Bailey-Throne American Legion Post #596 of Erskine and arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Erskine. Messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Lloyd Thomas Melugin was born on May 11, 1929 in Carthage, Missouri to parents Lawrence and Emma (Yelton) Melugin. His family moved to Mulina, Oregon where Lloyd grew up and attended school. Following school he owned and operated his own trucking business known as Melugin Trucking. He was united in marriage to Bernice Hanson on October 12, 1963. After their marriage, they moved to McMinnville and Willamina, Oregon. During their time in Willamina, Lloyd worked as a home builder and carpenter. He retired in 1995 and they moved to Erskine. Lloyd had many hobbies that he greatly enjoyed. He enjoyed gardening, working with wood in his shop; he collected and played violins and collected National Geographic magazines. He also liked to read and quilt.Lloyd passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2008 at his home in Erskine at the age of 78 years.Survivors include his wife, Bernice of Erskine; one brother, Carl (Lois) Melugin; three nieces, Emily (Harris) Horn, Debbie and Theresa; one nephew, Howard Hartley; great nephew and niece, Eric and Andrea Horn, all of Oregon. Nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Arthur and Warner; and one sister, Nova.Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Lloyd's family and friendsActive Pallbearers will be Brian Hanson, Darren Hanson, Rich Hanson, Terry Cave, Dan Cochran, and David Pearson.
