Linda Maruska

Linda Maruska, age 68, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Sunday, July 7th, at Essentia Health Living Center in Fosston. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 27th, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lengby, MN with the Rev. Gene Lilienthal officiating. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Lengby. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday (July 27th) at the church. Linda Marie Halvorson was born on August 5, 1950 in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Otto and Alna (Reiten) Halvorson. Linda grew up on the farm near Bagley, Minnesota and graduated from Bagley High School in 1968. She was baptized at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Our Savior's Lutheran Church at Ebro Corner. Linda was united in marriage to Kenneth Maruska in 1969. They lived in the Lengby area. She worked at several supper clubs as a cook - The Chalet, Angelina's and The Stadium. Linda also cooked at the Good Samaritan Home in Clearbrook, Minnesota for 22 years. Kenneth passed away in 2000. She then moved to Colorado and worked at the Good Samaritan Home in Loveland for 17 years. She retired at the end of February. She returned to Fosston on June 12, 2019 and passed away on July 7, 2019 with her family by her side at Essentia Health Living Center after her second battle with cancer at the age of 68 years.Linda is survived by her siblings, Janice Stormo of Clearbrook, MN, Orlo (Holly) Halvorson of Circle Pines, MN, Carol (Ordean) Sundrud of Fosston, Lois (Leonard) Ball of Fosston, James Halvorson (Sandra) of Gonvick, MN, and Donald Halvorson (Kelly) of Mahnomen, MN; sister-in-law, Mavis Halvorson of Wind Lake, WI.Also surviving are brothers-in-law, Robert (Joanne) Maruska of Bagley, MN, Albert (Darlene) Maruska of Bagley, Raymond (Diane) Maruska of Lengby, Bradley (Mary) Maruska of Bagley, Bennett (Diana) Maruska of Bagley. Linda is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends from both Minnesota and Colorado; one aunt, Ione Stevens of Texas and her very best friend, her dog Josie.She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth in 2000; her parents; brother, Jerome; brother-in-law, Richard Stormo; brother-in-law, Melvin Maruska; sister-in-law, Christine Hedlund; brother-in-law, Michael Maruska; her grandparents; and mother and father-in-law, Elsie and Ray Maruska.
