Linda Barstad

Linda Barstad, age 76, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Sunday, March 20th, at Essentia Health Hospital in Fosston. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 2nd, at the Carlin Funeral Home in Fosston with Jeanne Rains officiating. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday (April 2nd) at the funeral home. Linda Kay Hendricks was born on October 3, 1945, in Crookston, Minnesota to parents Arnold and Bernice (Ramstad) Hendricks. She grew up in Fertile, Winger and McIntosh areas and attended high school in McIntosh.

Linda was united in marriage to Gene Barstad. To this union, two children were born, Theresa and Scott. They lived and raised their family in Fosston.

Linda worked at Daisy’s Motel, the Hartz Store, and the Fosston Hospital. After her retirement, she enjoyed spending time in her flower garden and reading cookbooks. She especially loved the time that she spent with her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Theresa Cavalier (Jon Oliphant) of Britton, SD; son, Scott (Gail) Barstad of Byron, MN; grandchildren, Jack Barstad, Abbi Barstad, Holly Schlabel (Fernando Soto), Tim (Kayla) Cavalier, and Hailie Oliphant; brother, Dennis Hendricks of Tioga, ND; and sisters, Deb (Chester) Nelson of Bagley, MN, and Sheila (Steve) Vigoren of Burnsville, MN. Great Grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband; grandson, Douglas Cavalier; two sisters, Laurie Hendricks and Donna Hamlin; and sister-in-law, Cindy Hendricks.
