Lillian "Lil" Thompson

Lillian “Lil” Thompson, age 80, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Saturday, August 27th, at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 1st, at the Carlin Funeral Home in Fosston with the Rev. Keith Zeh officiating. Interment will be in Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery, McIntosh, at a later date. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Lillian “Lil” was born on January 11, 1942 in Charleston, North Carolina to Grady Burrell, Sr and Christine (Cochran) Burrell. When she was twelve years old she moved with her father to Connecticut.

After graduating from school she married Herschel Haven Hall in Blue Ridge, Georgia. To this union two children were born, Cynthia Burrell and Herschel Hall, Jr.

In 1971, Lil moved to Branson, Missouri where she and a friend, Lois Grable, opened a store called Country Classics which they operated until 1979. They sold the store and Lil moved to Anchorage, Alaska where Lil went to work for Taywood, Berg & Rydell as a Bull Cook on the slope. While working there, she met Noel Thompson.

Noel and Lil were married on April 12, 1990, in Anchorage. They retired in 2002 and moved to the family farm in Minnesota.

Lil enjoyed the outdoors especially gardening and tending her flowers until she suffered a stroke. Lil resided at Pioneer Memorial Care Center for the past fourteen years where she peacefully passed away on August 27, 2022.

Survivors include her husband Noel; a son, Herschel Hall, Jr.; a grandson John Hall; and a great grandson, Luke Hall, of Anchorage, AK; a brother, Grady (Mary) Burrell, Jr. of Bryson City, North Carolina; and many nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter; and two brothers.
