Lillian Bjornerud, 72, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Thursday (December 14th) as a result of injuries she sustained in a car/train accident in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday (December 19th) at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Immanuel Cemetery, rural Lengby, MN. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Merit Care Children's Hospital in care of Merit Care Foundation. Online register book is available at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Lillian Opal Lomen was born on December 3, 1934 in Lengby, Minnesota to parents Knute and Anna (Anderson) Lomen. She was baptized at Immanuel Church in Lengby and confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston.Lillian was united in marriage to Roy Bjornerud on March 26, 1955. She received her Licensed Practical Nurse training in Crookston, Minnesota. She worked part time for one year at the hospital in International Falls, Minnesota. They moved to Fosston in May of 1956 where she worked for 31 years at the Fosston Hospital and Nursing Home. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston, the McIntosh VFW Auxiliary Post #6891 and the Tangen-Walstrom American Legion Auxiliary Post #114 of Fosston.Lillian's passion for helping others continued far beyond retirement. She devoted many hours of her time to the Fosston Embassy Community Center and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Lillian loved gardening, quilting, cross country skiing, horses, crocheting/sewing, and dancing. Most importantly, she loved her family and caring for her grandchildren. You felt the love, enthusiasm, and the warmth of her smile whenever she was near. Her joy and laughter made you feel warm inside. Our memories of her will live in our hearts forever.Lillian passed away tragically on Thursday, December 14, 2006 as a result of a car/train accident in Fosston at the age of 72 years and 11 days.Survivors include her husband, Roy of Fosston; four daughters, Karlyn (Richard) Sistad of Fosston, Dawn (Joe) Hammer of Black Hawk, SD, Cynthia "Cindy" (Steve) Green of Fosston, and Lori (Mike) Swecker of Anchorage, AK; one son, Rocky (Debbie) Bjornerud of Menifee, CA; 17 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; one brother, Klemence Lomen of Oregon; three sisters, Myrtle (Jesse) Robbins of Yucaipa, CA, Viola (Laddie) Bata of Park River, ND, and Thelma (Teri) Tangen of Crookston, MN; one brother-in-law, James (Gloria) Bjornerud of Appleton, WI. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Joseph Lomen and Leo Lomen; two sisters, Pearl Lomen Bjornerud and Ida Lomen Forsberg; one great granddaughter, Lillian Elizabeth Green; and one great grandson, James Dean Wiest.Pallbearers will be Chad Hanson, Adam Hanson, Curt Green, Davin Bjornerud, Michael Green, Joseph Hammer, and Michael Wedin.
