Lida Brustad, age 91 of Fosston, MN passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, May 7th at the Cornerstone Residence in Fosston. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 12th at 2:00 PM at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston with Pastor John Marx officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the funeral at the funeral home on Monday, and interment will be at Cross Lake Lutheran Cemetery, rural Fosston. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be sent to www.carlinhoialmen.com.Lida Jennie Tollefson was born January 15, 1923 in Weme, MN to John and Lisa (Aasmark) Tollefson. She was united in marriage to Omar Brustad on August 2, 1950. He preceded her in death on December 1, 1982. They were married for 32 years.Lida's family, her faith, and her Norwegian heritage were most important to her. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, working in her flower beds, and a good game of Dominos. She loved to watch the birds (she carried on quite the conversations with them too) and most everything in nature. While living on the family farm, she was visited by a wide variety of animals - from the vast array of birds, to raccoons, deer, and even a bear made its way into her yard. She loved life and had a wonderful laugh that will be greatly missed.On Wednesday, May 7, 2014 Lida passed away at the Cornerstone Residence in Fosston, MN at the age of 91 years.She is survived by her two sons, Leslie (Marilyn) of Chaska, MN, and Ross (Kris) of Cottage Grove, MN, five grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren all in Minnesota - Brittany & Rick and Emma Larson of Wanaska; Toni & Scott and Lucas and Emerson Friese of St. Cloud; Ryan & Betty and Jessica and Marissa Berhow of St. Cloud; Jennifer & Trent and Joseph, Andrew, and Benjamin Siats of St. Cloud; and David and Venecia Wickersham of St. Cloud. She is also survived by two nieces, Vernice (Tom) Lively of Fosston, and Linda Moore of Salt Lake City, UT.She was preceded in death by her husband, Omar, her parents, and six siblings, Lena (Hanson), Lars, Josephine (Anderson), Berget (Moore), Ludvig, and Florence, who passed away at 4 years of age.The family expresses a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Cornerstone Residence, Hospice, Home Health, the nurses and staff at the Fosston Hospital, and Dr. Swanson for providing care for Lida.
