Lester Olson, age 87, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Wednesday, May 18th, at McIntosh Senior Living in McIntosh. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24th, at Gosen Lutheran Church, rural Erskine, MN with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Lutheran Cemetery, McIntosh. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, serving McIntosh. Memorials can be directed to the Gideons.Lester was born on August 19, 1928 in Gonvick, Minnesota to parents Louis and Selma (Simonson) Olson. He graduated from Gonvick High School in 1946 and then enlisted in the United States Navy and served until 1948. He attended the Wahpeton State School of Science for two years, taking printing and newspaper work. He was later employed by newspapers in Battle Lake, Barnesville, Bagley and Fosston, Minnesota. Lester was married to Gladys Ostenaa on October 25, 1997 at Mount Carmel Lutheran Church in McIntosh, Minnesota.He enjoyed hunting and fishing, photography and working with the computer. His main love, however, after accepting Jesus, was attending church and Bible study.Lester's testimony: "I was ‘born again' March 18, 1967 and enjoyed my new life in Jesus and witnessed to those who were interested and some who were not. My love for Jesus increased over the years and I loved to fellowship with other brothers and sisters in the Lord. I had many who helped me in my walk with Jesus. My life was never the same after accepting Jesus into my life."Lester went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at McIntosh Senior Living in McIntosh at the age of 87 years.He is survived by his brother, Floyd and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gladys; his parent, Louis and Selma; brother, Lyman; sister-in-law, Martha; sister-in-law, Geraldine; and nephew, Michael.
