Lavine Johnson, age 94, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Saturday, January 20th, at Essentia Hospital in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26th, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh with the Rev. Gordon Syverson officiating. Interment will be in Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery, McIntosh. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin Funeral Home, serving McIntosh, and messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinfuneral.com.Myrtle Lavine Johnson was born on December 5, 1923 to parents Harry and Anne (Knapper) Swanson at Avoca, Minnesota. She was baptized at the Norwegian Lutheran Church in Avoca. The family moved to Trail, Minnesota and she was confirmed at Valle Lutheran Church north of Trail.Lavine attended Fosston High School and was a graduate of the class of 1941. Lavine was united in marriage in 1946 to Harvey Johnson at Fosston. Harvey and Lavine were married for 67 years before Harvey passed away on January 16, 2014.They lived in Salem, Oregon until 1948, then moved to the farm home located in Lessor Township. Their son Wayne was born in 1949. Lavine was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh. She was president of the ALCW and held other offices. She served on the church council and taught Sunday School. She was active in the community and served as the manager of McIntosh Housing for many years and was also a substitute rural mail carrier. Special interests were hand work (Norwegian double cross stitch & crochet), gardening and flowers. Lavine had a strong faith in the Lord that sustained her through all the joys and sorrows of life. She is survived by nieces and nephew, Karen Johnson, June Cahoon, Marion Vanderhoof, Rita Laughter, Patricia Perez and Alan Johnson. Special friends Darrel and Marvie Johnson, Mark and Cindy Nelson. Also all her friends at Summerfield Apartments and the Embassy in Fosston.She was preceded in death by her infant twin brother, husband, Harvey, her son, Wayne in 1968, sister, brothers, her parents and a niece and nephew.
