LaVanche Stenvold

LaVanche "Lovey" Stenvold, age 88, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away on Tuesday, June 30th, at Evergreens of Moorhead in Moorhead, MN. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7th, at Grace Lutheran Church in Erskine with the Rev. Timothy Lundeen officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, rural Erskine. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Fairview Cemetery or Grace Lutheran Church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Erskine and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.LaVanche Shirley Erickson was born on June 22, 1927 in Erskine, Minnesota to parents Norman and Georgia Benson Erickson. At the age of eight, she moved with her family to Drayton, North Dakota where she grew up and graduated from high school. She then attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota where she met her future husband, Elvin "Al". They were married on May 18, 1946 in Drayton.After their marriage, Al and Lovey worked and raised their four children in Grand Forks, North Dakota. They called Grand Forks their home for the remainder of their lives. Their children have many happy memories of vacations, camping, holidays, and spending time together as a family. Lovey worked for the JC Penney Company for 30 years until her retirement in 1992. Al passed away on January 28, 2013. She was able to live at home in Grand Forks up until the last four months when she moved to Evergreens of Moorhead in Moorhead, Minnesota. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. Grace Lutheran Church in Erskine also held a special place in her heart. Both Al and Lovey enjoyed attending events and visiting there for many years. Lovey is survived by two daughters, Randie (Dale) Haake of Fargo, ND, and Kandace (Merl) Loken of Arvilla, ND; son, Scott of Fargo, ND; son-in-law, Gary Larsen of San Antonio, TX; nine grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; two sisters, Fern (Elwood) Olson of Missoula, MT and Norma Raney of Fargo, ND; and sisters-in-law, Beverly Ostenaa of Fosston, MN, and Addie Sletta of Brea, CA. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.She was preceded in death by her parents; parental in-laws, Monrad and Mabel Stanvold; daughter, Lindee Larsen; grandson, Wade Haake; sister-in-law, Marlys Lien; and brothers-in-law, Talmadge Stenvold and Albert Raney.Honorary Pallbearers: Gary Larsen and Brady LarsenActive Pallbearers: Chris Haake, Andrew Haake, Aaron Loken, Matthew Nieuwsma, Dale Haake, and Merl Loken.
