Larry Shaver, age 75 from Erskine, MN passed away peacefully on Monday (May 26th) at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday (May 30th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Erskine with the Rev. Timothy Lundeen officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, rural Erskine. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Friday evening at the funeral home in Erskine. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Erskine and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Larry James Shaver was born on March 16, 1939 on the family farm near Erskine, Minnesota to loving parents Elmer and Annie Nelson Shaver. Larry was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Larry was raised on the farm which became his passion in life. He loved farming and had dairy cattle for many years until he retired due to health issues.He was united in marriage to Eleanore Knutson in 1964 at Erskine. They lived on the farm and Larry became her loving caregiver when she became ill. After a long illness, Eleanore passed away on January 13, 1998 after nearly 35 years of marriage.Larry continued to stay on the farm and eventually met his now soul mate and companion, June Brustad who was by his side for the past 10 and 1/2 years. He is survived by his companion, June Brustad of Mentor; one brother, Rodger (Rosie) Shaver of Erskine; four nephews, Russell Shaver of Erskine, James (Tammy) Shaver, Randy (Janelle) Shaver, and Mark (Samantha) Shaver, all of Mentor; one niece, Julie (Jeff) Bratager of Winger, MN; uncle, Adolph (Carolyn) Nelson of Fosston, MN; and several cousins. Also surviving are June's daughters, Laurie (Mike) and Elaine & their children; and Rosie's daughter, Tina and her son, Jarod and their children.He was preceded in death by his wife; and his parents.
