He was born on November 6, 1947, to Roy and Rosella Miller in Fosston, Minnesota. Larry was the youngest of three brothers.
Larry graduated from Fosston High School with the class of 1965. In 1967, he married Marilyn Hilliard, with whom he had two children, Rhonda and Darin. In 1978, he married the love of his life, Tami LePier. Together, they had two children, Lindsay and Brady, and built a beautiful life full of love.
After high school, Larry worked in Minneapolis for a few years before venturing to Alaska, a place he would always hold dear to his heart. He spent many years there before returning to Fosston, where he owned and operated Miller’s Building Center for 30 years. A hard working and generous man, Larry was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand.
Larry was deeply involved in his community, serving on various boards and committees throughout the years, some including the Fosston Fire Department, Kingo Church Council, the First Care Hospital Board, the Midwest MN Community Development Corporation, Fosston All-School Reunion, and the Fosston Economic Development Authority. He was a man of service, not only in his professional life but also in his retirement years. He volunteered at the Fosston Food Shelf, worked on projects at Kingo Church, and continued to utilize his skills in design and carpentry.
Larry was known for his wit, life stories, and warm sense of humor, which brought smiles and laughter to those around him. He lived a full life of joy, humility, kindness, gratitude, selflessness and love, characteristics which we should all emulate. His life made this world a better place for all who knew him. Larry took every opportunity to spend time at one of his favorite places, their cabin in Ontario, Canada. He had a deep love for the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and treasured the time spent doing so with others. Larry loved traveling, and he and Tami spent several wonderful winters in Arizona and Florida. Most important to Larry was spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he cherished beyond measure.
Larry is survived by his wife, Tami; his children Rhonda (Terry) Nelson of Clintonville, WI, Darin Miller of Long Beach, Washington, Lindsay (Ryan) Heyer of Fargo, ND, and Brady (Brooke) Miller of West Fargo, ND; his grandchildren Ethan (Emily) Nelson, Sidney (Brad) Zander, Jonah (Morgan) Nelson, Zachary Nelson, Maxwell and Camilla Heyer, Lennon and Bowie Miller; as well as nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Ron (Jo) Miller; mother-in-law Betty LePier; sister-in-law Renee (Dan) Anderson; brother-in-law Joe (Jenn) LePier; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Rosella, stepfather Melvin Disrud; his brother Duane Miller; his father-in-law Howard LePier; grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Larry’s legacy of love, laughter, and service to others will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. His family and friends will forever cherish the memories of his kind spirit, his generosity, and his unwavering dedication to those he loved.
