Larry Lybeck, age 75, of rural Gonvick, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 2nd, at his home. A private family graveside service will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, rural Gonvick. In lieu of flowers and in grateful appreciation for taking seven of Larry’s animals, please consider a donation to Great River Rescue Animal Shelter of Bemidji. Larry Alan Lybeck was born on September 23, 1945, in Alexandria, Minnesota to parents Lester and Lillian (Brown) Lybeck. He grew up in Alexandria and graduated in 1963 from Jefferson High School in Alexandria.
Larry entered the United States Army in 1964, serving for one year in Vietnam. He received his honorable discharge in 1967.
Larry was united in marriage to Kirsten Rebecca Kjellberg on June 23, 2001. Larry worked as a salesman and then owned and operated Lybeck’s Sodding and Christmas trees. He also owned Larry’s Trucking, doing over the road trucking, from 1984 until his retirement in 2016.
Larry enjoyed gardening and fishing. He was a very simple man….his CB handle was “easy does it”. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Kirsten, of Gonvick, MN; two daughters, Laura Swenson of Evansville, IN, and Mary Lybeck of Bemidji, MN; and one brother, Lee Lybeck of Lake Preston, SD; one and sister, Linda Caron of Burnsville, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Lynette Primus.
