Laila ChadwickLaila Chadwick, 82, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Tuesday (September 26th) at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (September 30th) at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. John Dalen officiating. Interment will be in Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise, Alabama at a later date. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Friday (September 29th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston. Sympathy messages may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Laila Karine Tangen was born on January 7, 1924 in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Henry and Alma (Haugen) Tangen. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and spent her childhood years in the Fosston area. Laila attended rural school north of Fosston and graduated from Fosston High School. Following high school, she moved to Portland, Oregon where she worked as a dental assistant. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Chadwick on March 2, 1951 in Portland. After their marriage, they lived in Portland and in many cities throughout the U.S. and in Germany while Lloyd was in the military. They retired in the late 1970's and resided in Enterprise, Alabama. Lloyd passed away in 1991. She continued to live in Enterprise until 1994 when she moved back to Fosston to be close to family. She was a current member of Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston and past member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Enterprise. During her time in Enterprise, Laila was actively involved with Laborers for Christ which resulted in the construction of Christ the King Church.She enjoyed crafting and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.Laila passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston at the age of 82 years, eight months and 19 days.Survivors include three daughters, Jackie Williams of Ozark, AL, Barbara (Brad) Neujahr of Bagley, MN, and Sandra (Gary) McKeehan of Ozark, AL; eight grandchildren, Keith (Shanell) Williams, Jeremy Williams, Jaime Neujahr, Kimberly Neujahr, Ashley Younes, Ryan Younes, Matthew McKeehan and Kaitlyn McKeehan; two great grandchildren, Emily Ann Williams and Grayson Williams; three sisters, Charlotte Steinbrenner of Fosston, Josephine Hedman of Mahnomen, MN, and Hilda Breece of Portland, OR; one brother Francis (Ruth) Tangen of Starbuck, MN. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; her parents; two brothers, Orvin Tangen and Arnold Tangen; and one sister, Florence Storrusten.
