Kurmeth "Kurmey" Hill, age 81, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Friday, July 31st, at Cornerstone Nursing and Rehab in Bagley, MN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 6th, at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in First Lutheran Cemetery, Mahnomen, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Wednesday, August 5th and for one hour prior to the service on Friday. All visitation will be at Hope Lutheran Church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be shared at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Kurmeth Juel Hill was born on January 14, 1934 in Mahnomen County, Minnesota to parents Kurnel and Julia Thompson Hill. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was raised on the family farm in Chief Township in Mahnomen County, attended the Somer Country School and Bejou Public School in Bejou, Minnesota. He moved to Fosston with his mother and younger brother where he attended the DAC of Fosston. With the help of very special teachers, he became very efficient to handle responsibilities. He lived with family members after his mother's death in 1975. Since 2000, he has resided at Bethany Board and Lodge in Fosston. He was employed by Kloster Fairway Foods, Hanson's Fairway Foods, and Palubicki's of Fosston for many years. He was very proud and appreciated these employers for giving him a chance to show his ability and became quite a social butterfly. He retired in 2005. He was a special person and made friends with everyone. He had to report for morning coffee at the deli with local friends and highway patrols every day.Kurmey was a real "Fosston Greyhounds Fan". He faithfully attended many boys and girls sporting events through the years. He also enjoyed the Twins and Vikings games, listening to the radio, old movies, word search books, and loved to attend the Grand March at the Proms. He enjoyed participating in many Special Olympics in different states and always came home with medals. He loved his church, family gatherings; and his love of people has given him many friends. He will be fondly remembered and missed for his smile, his friendly greetings, and his hugs.Kurmey passed away on Friday, July 31, 2015 after a brief stay at Cornerstone Nursing and Rehab in Bagley at the age of 81 years.He is survived by his brother, Boyd Hill of Fosston; sister, Doris Holm of Bagley, MN; sister-in-law, Georgia Hill of Coos Bay, OR. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Milferd, Thomas, Oliver and Merle; sisters, Leona Hill and June Larson; and brothers-in-law, Kenneth Larson and Donald Holm.
