Kermit Larson, age 82, of Fosston, Minnesota passed away on Tuesday, November 7th at his home in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (November 11th) at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Friday (November 10th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. (Lunde) Larsen. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a lifelong member of Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston.Kermit served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946; he was a member of Company B 21st Armored Infantry Division and fought in the Battle of the Bulge and participated in the liberation of those held prisoner at Mauthausen Concentration Camp in Austria. During his time in the military, Kermit received numerous medals and honors, including the European-African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with three bronze battle stars, one overseas bar, Army of Occupation Medal-Germany, Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart Medal.He was united in marriage to Mabeline "Madge" Kjensmo on November 27, 1948 at the Hope Lutheran Parsonage by Rev. Megorden. Kermit worked on the family farm with his father and brother in Rosebud Township, Mac Mills Lumber in McIntosh, Reierson Meat Market in Fosston and the Fosston Co-op Locker Plant for 22 years.He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 014 of Crookston, Minnesota, the V.F.W. Post #2759 of Lengby, Minnesota, the Tangen-Walstrom American Legion Post #114 of Fosston, and was a member of the 11th Armored Division Association.Kermit passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at his home in Fosston at the age of 82 years, two months and 18 days.Survivors include his wife, Madge of Fosston; one daughter, Kay (Jim) Williams of Grand Forks, ND; three grandchildren, Melissa (David) Lombard of Houston, TX, Lucas Johnson of Grand Forks, and Shelby Williams of Denver, CO; two sisters-in-law, Avis Larsen of East Grand Forks, MN, and Marion Larson of Fosston; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dee Ann Larson; his parents; three brothers, Elmer Larsen, Alvin Larsen, and Lester Larson; sisters, Mildred Moen and an infant sister.
