Kenneth Allen Larson was born on April 1, 1933 in Bagley, Minnesota to parents Harold and Mabel (Olson) Larson. He grew up in Cass Lake, Walker and Fosston where he graduated from Fosston High School in 1951. He entered the United States Air Force in 1952 at served at Enewetak Atoll, Hawaii (a nuclear bomb testing site) during the Korean War. He received his honorable discharge in 1956 and returned to Fosston. Kenny then went to work for Anderson Brothers Construction for several years. Kenny was united in marriage to Marian Pederson on November 14, 1964. Three children were born to this union, Mike, Gary, and Kathy. Kenny then attended meat cutting school and, upon his completion, began work for Hartz Foods in Fosston. In 1992 began his employment at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen where he worked the Blackjack and Poker tables. He retired in 2008 because of health reasons. Kenny loved fishing, golfing, cooking, playing pool, bowling and curling. He was on league bowling teams in Bagley and Fosston and a curling team in Bemidji. During high school, he excelled basketball and football; and after high school he played softball. Kenny was known for his fish fry nights and cooking at the American Legion in Fosston. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Kenny passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016 at Essentia Health Hospital in Fosston at the age of 83 years. He is survived by his wife, Marian, of Fosston; two daughters, Thea (Ron) Ray of Milwaukee, WI, and Kathy (Chris) Dahlen of Thief River Falls, MN; two sisters, Helen Mae (Alton) Frethem, and Carol Smeby, both of Fosston; grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Mike and Gary; brothers, Richard and David; and one sister, Barbara Henderson.
