Kenneth Winkler, age 85, of rural Fosston, MN, passed away on Saturday (November 19th) at Essentia Hospital in Fosston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday (November 23rd) at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Beaulieu, MN with Father Tony Fernando, Father Dave Super and Father Rick Lambert Concelebrating. Interment will be in the Parish cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday (November 22nd) from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. All visitation will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Beaulieu. He grew up in Heier Township, rural Fosston, and attended the Duane Country School. He attended the Crookston AC for one year before moving back to help on the farm. Kenneth was united in marriage to Delores Fisher on November 4, 1948 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Beaulieu, Minnesota. After their marriage, they lived on the family farm until 1950 when they purchased their own homestead in Heier Township. Kenny spent much of his life farming though he also drove back and forth to Fargo for 17 years doing carpentry work. He spent many years building cabinets, hutches, gun cabinets and rocking horses for friends and family. He also sold Certified and Registered seed while farming. Kenny spent several years digging graves in the surrounding area. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church where he was active on various parish councils and was a member of both the third and fourth degree Knights of Columbus. He also served on the Mahnomen County Hospital Board for several years, the Heier Township Board for over 25 years and the Fosston Co-op Elevator Board. Kenny passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Essentia Hospital in Fosston at the age of 85 years, two months and 29 days.Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Delores; three children, Jerry (Mary) and Randy (Gloria), all of rural Fosston; and one daughter, Sherry (Steve) Miller of St. Hilaire, MN; seven grandchildren, Kenny (Christina) Winkler, Kevin, Richard and Nicholas Winkler, Aaron (Terri) Miller, and Margaret and Megan Miller; five great grandchildren, McCayla and Justin Winkler, Arianna and Gavin Winkler and Oliver Miller; three sisters, Shirley Welle of Mahnomen, MN, Lorraine Welle of Detroit Lakes, MN, and Alice VanPuymbrock of Peoria, AZ.; one sister-in-law, Cele Winkler of Mahnomen, MN. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.He was preceded death by his parents; one brother, James Winkler; and three brothers-in-law, Harvey Welle, Edwin Welle, and Art VanPuymbrock.Honorary Pallbearers will be the Knight of Columbus.Active Pallbearers will be Kenny's grandchildren, Kenny Winkler, Kevin Winkler, Richard Winkler, Nicholas Winkler, Aaron Miller, Margaret Miller and Megan Miller.
