Kathleen Larson

Kathleen Larson, age 80, of Trail, MN, passed away on Friday, August 9th, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 15th, at Sand Valley Lutheran Church in Trail with Dawn Hanson officiating. Interment will be in Sand Valley Lutheran Cemetery, Trail. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.  Kathleen Faye Larson was born on November 11, 1943, in Gully Township the daughter of Knute and Etta (Anderson) Flateland. Kathleen was baptized and confirmed at Sand Valley Lutheran Church. She attended the Trail School in Trail, MN. Kathleen was united in marriage to Ernest Larson on December 31, 1960. They lived and worked near Fosston until they moved to Trail in 1962. Kathleen cooked at the Trail School until they moved to Gary, MN and worked for Clarence Swenson in 1965. They moved back to Fosston in 1970 and worked at Vennes Farms until Ernest retired in 1994. Upon retirement they moved back to Trail to the Flateland Family Farm.

 Kathleen was an active member of the Sand Valley Church and with the Sand Valley WELCA, where she served as president for many years. She was well known for her cooking and baking, especially homemade donuts and buns. Kathleen would bake for people whenever they asked. She also enjoyed taking care of her yard, mowing lawn was one of her favorite activities. Kathleen enjoyed quilting and sewing, especially making baby quilts. Kathleen enjoyed spending time with her family, watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. Cooking and baking for Holidays, family events was a joy to her. She always made cakes for birthday parties, weddings, and any other special events that people requested. 

 Kathleen was always available when someone needed a shoulder to lean on. She would listen and give advice with an open heart. She would give you her honest opinion but always did it with love. She would offer a helping hand to anyone who needed it. She was quick-witted and loved to visit with friends and family. She had many people that held special places in her heart. It would be impossible to list them all. 

 Kathleen passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024, at her home in Trail at the age of 80 years, eight months and 29 days.

 Kathleen is survived by her children Dale (Shelly) Larson of Waverly, KS, Lori (Michael) Wollman of Oklee, MN and Jarrod (Kelley) Larson of Oklee, MN; five grandchildren: Sarah (Carson), Brandon (Danielle), Casandra (Zachary), Katlin (Timothy), Tristan, and Jayden; Nine great grandchildren: Bentley, Ellie, Rylee, Jayce, Ryker, Mya, Jaxtyn, Emersyn, and Cooper ; two brothers, Olin Flateland of Fosston, MN, Bradlee (Margaret) Flateland of Foley, MN; one sister, Annette (Gerald) Nelson of Trail, MN and several nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest, grandson Blake Larson, parents, and brothers Arley, Howard, Keith, and Allen.
