Katherine "Kathy" Olson, age 68, of rural Fosston, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 6th, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12th, at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Froen Cemetery, rural Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service on Monday, May 11th, and for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. All visitation will be held at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Katherine Ellen Griffiths Olson was born on April 25, 1947 in Hibbing, Minnesota the daughter of John and Gladys Scofield Griffiths. She grew up in Hibbing and graduated from Hibbing High School. Katherine and David Olson were married on September 21, 1968 at First Lutheran Church in Hibbing. They resided in Plymouth, Minnesota before moving to Fosston in 1971.Kathy worked for Koehler Floral, MTL, and the Fosston School District. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and volunteered in many ways. She was the Brandsvold Township clerk for 27 years. She and David traveled a lot and Europe was her favorite spot.She loved the farm, flowers and family. Her biggest blessing were her two sons, daughters-in-law and five grandchildren. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren at their sporting events and spending time together at their family lake cabin. She is survived by her mother, Gladys Griffiths of Hibbing, MN; her husband, David Olson of Fosston; two sons, Harlan (Sheila) Olson of Fosston, and Wayne (Michelle) Olson of Fosston; five grandchildren, Reid, Maria, Markus, Abby, and Emma.Also surviving are six siblings, Barb (Van) Bautch, Mary (Duane) Maki, Mike (Patty) Griffiths, Ellen Skahl, Robert (Sherrie) Griffiths, and Steve (Maureen) Griffiths; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, John Griffiths; and brother-in-law, Art Skahl.
