Katherine Caskey

Katherine "Kiki" Caskey, age 85, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Sunday, May 12th, at Essentia Health Living Center in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 16th, at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Jane Ekholm officiating. Interment will be in Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Wednesday, May 15th, at the Carlin Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Katherine Opal Solsten was born on May 21, 1933 in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Otto and Ruby (Skog) Solsten. She was baptized and confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston. She attended school in Fosston and graduated from Fosston High School in 1951. After high school, Kiki attended and graduated from the Bemidji School of Business. Kiki was united in marriage to James Keith Caskey "Keith" on April 13, 1952 in Moorhead, Minnesota. After their marriage, they lived on the road for a couple years while Keith worked with the railroad. They moved to Fosston where they resided and raised their family.Kiki worked for over 45 years at Lindfors Insurance doing tax preparation, bookkeeping, and was a licensed insurance agent. She was a cherished employee and shared in the ownership as a partner of FARMChek Services, based in McIntosh.She enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting, and doing jigsaw puzzles. She was an avid fan of Fosston Greyhound sports teams for many years and she and Keith had their own "reserved" seating. Kiki was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church her entire life. She served in various ladies' groups and quilting group. She was also on the King Town Insurance Board and Rosebud Township Board for many years. Survivors include her devoted husband of 67 years, Keith, of Fosston; one son, Doug (Mary) Caskey of Richmond, MN; and one daughter, Deb Blanchard of Middle River, MN; four grandchildren, Danielle (Brian) Kammermeier, Angela (Kirk) Grannes, Catie (Jeff) Deutsch, and Ryan Blanchard (friend, Mariah Donarski); great granddaughters, Abagail and Olivia Kammermeier and Ava and Charlie Grannes.Also surviving is her brother, Orlan "Tubby" (Eileen) Solsten of Fosston, MN; brother-in-law, Duane Erickson of Detroit Lakes, MN; sisters-in-law, Shirley Smith of Warner, SD and Judy Scott of Loma, CO; several nieces and nephews; and special family friend, Darlene Skoglund of Fosston.She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Irene Erickson; and sisters-in-law, Geraldine Petersen, Erleen "Boots" Cameron, Pat Stern and Mary Sue Rock.A special thank you to the Essentia Health Living Center staff for their wonderful and heartfelt daily care.
