Karlyn Sistad

Karlyn Sistad, age 56, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Saturday (January 26th) at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday (February 1st) at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Lengby. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Thursday (January 31st) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Karlyn Faye Bjornerud was born on September 14, 1956 in Crookston, Minnesota to parents Roy and Lillian (Lomen) Bjornerud. She grew up in Fosston and graduated from Fosston High School in 1974. Karlyn married Gary Hanson in 1974 and together they were blessed with two children, Chad and Adam. She married Richard Sistad on June 26, 1993 and was again blessed by adding three step children to her family - Terry, Sheila and Kevin. Richard and Karlyn have since resided in rural Fosston. She was employed at Mark II and IPS as a bookkeeper. Karlyn passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 56 years.Survivors include her husband of 20 years, Richard of Fosston; two sons, Chad (Angie) Hanson of Fosston and Adam Hanson of Minneapolis, MN; her father, Roy Bjornerud of Fosston; three step children, Terry (Kristie) Sistad of Fosston, Sheila (Erik Sandberg) Sistad of Mentor, MN, and Kevin (Tina Schacher) Sistad of Lengby, MN; grandchildren, Tyra and Jace Hanson; Alex and Brooke Hanson; Jessicah, Trevor, Rebecca, and Terah Sistad; Channing and Jayde Sandberg and Shelby Sistad; Jasmin, Jessica and Madison Schacher and Gavin Sistad; one brother, Rocky (Debbie) Bjornerud Oceanside, CA; three sisters, Dawn (Joe) Hammer of Bullhead, SD, Cindy (Steve) Green of Fosston, and Lori (Mike) Swecker of Anchorage, AK. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Bjornerud; and her grandparents, Albert and Gena Bjornerud and Knute and Anna Lomen.Pallbearers: Mike Green, Trevor Sistad, Jace Hanson, Paul Sistad, Rick Drellack, Darryl Grimm, and Grant Skarsten.
