Karen Evenson, age 66, from Fosston, MN passed away on Tuesday, November 23rd at her home in Fosston. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 1st at 1:30 PM at Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston with Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the funeral at the funeral home, and interment will be at Froen Cemetery, rural Fosston at a later date. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements. Sympathy messages may be sent to www.carlinhoialmen.com.Karen Marie Berg was born on February 12, 1944 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota to parents Emil and Mabel (Dyrdahl) Berg. She grew up on a farm outside of Fosston with her six brothers and sisters. She attended school in Fosston, Minnesota and graduated from Fosston High School.Karen married Paul Evenson of Fosston in December, 1965 at Froen Church near Fosston. After marriage, they moved to Missoula, Montana. They had two boys, Dale and Darin Evenson.Karen worked as a bank teller in Missoula, Montana for many years until retiring and returning to Fosston in 2006.Karen loved being with family, listening to musical programs, and playing bridge. She enjoyed traveling to see her family and visited them wherever they moved. Her greatest joy was her children and her grandchildren.On Tuesday, November 23, 2010 Karen Evenson passed away at her home in Fosston at the age of 66 years.Survivors include her sons, Dale Evenson of Gold Bar, Washington, and his wife Kelley and their daughter Annika ; Darin Evenson of Falls Church, Virginia and his wife Laura and their son Finn and daughter Chloe; her brothers Jerald (Darlene) Berg of Fosston, MN, Dean (Bev) Berg of Duluth, MN, sisters Brenda (Wayne) Ringstad of Duluth, MN, Jennifer (Terry) Sylvester of Inola, OK, and Karla (Ordell) Curfman of Fosston, MN. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and younger sister Kathryn.Karen will be missed and fondly remembered as a loving mother by all who knew her. We honor and treasure her memory now and always.
