June Quant, age 88, from Fertile and formerly from Mentor, MN passed away on Tuesday, November 10th at Fair Meadow Nursing Home in Fertile. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 13th at 10:30 AM at Faith Lutheran Church in Mentor with Rev. Timothy Lundeen officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Erskine, MN, and there will also be reviewal for one hour before the funeral at the church. Interment will be at Concordia Lutheran Cemetery in Fertile, and the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Erskine is in charge of the arrangements. She was baptized and confirmed at Sundal Lutheran Church, rural Gary. June attended District 27 East Country School, rural Gary through the 8th grade and graduated from Fertile High School. She also completed one year of business college.June was united in marriage to John Jacob Quant on April 26, 1941 in Fertile, MN. They lived in the Fertile area for many years. John passed away on June 4, 1964. In 1966, June moved to Mentor, MN and lived there until she moved to the Fair Meadow Nursing Home in Fertile in April of 2008.June was a homemaker, a caring angel to the Boyd and Sally Gilbert family, and she worked and traveled with the OOf-da Taco Stand for 25 years. She enjoyed Garden Club, Royal Neighbors of America, ELCW, and teaching Sunday School. June loved her family and loved to cook for them, especially making "turnovers". Her family was the "light of her life".On Tuesday, November 10, 2009 June passed away at Fair Meadow Nursing Home in Fertile at the age of 88 years.Survivors include three daughters, Sharon (Don) Ramberg of Mentor, Eileen Heinrich of Jefferson City, MO and Val (Gary) Kolstad of Mentor; four grandchildren, Tammy, Angie, Sheila and Kylie; eight great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; three brothers, Gordon (Maureen) Nelson of Gary, Lyle (Yvonne) Nelson of Grand Forks, ND and Russell Nelson of Fertile; one sister, Adelle Noss of Crookston, MN; sister-in-law, Amanda Nelson of Gary; as well as many other relatives.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, Art, Lawrence, Clifford and Leonard; and one sister, Bernice Horn.
