Judith Bartz Peterson, age 65, passed away on Thursday (August 23rd) in Crystal, MN. Memorial services will be held on Monday evening (August 27th) at 7:00 p.m. at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Plymouth, MN with Pastor Tom Stoebig and Pastor David Kruger officiating. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday (August 29th) at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in McIntosh, MN with the Rev. Dean Bell officiating. All friends and relatives in the area are invited to attend. A reception will be held at Immanuel Church following the service.Local arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, serving McIntosh.Judith Louise Bartz Peterson was born in Fosston, Minnesota on February 26, 1942 to Henry and Orvilla Bartz. Judy was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in McIntosh. Judy started school in the old country school in Sletten Township and then continued her education at McIntosh Public Schools. She graduated high school as salutatorian in May of 1960. She continued her education and received her Bachelor's Degree from Bemidji State College in 1964. After graduation Judy taught school in Faribault, Minnesota and Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. After working a year at Pillsbury Corp she began an over 40-year career in the School of Public Health at the University of Minnesota. Judy is remembered fondly by the many students, exchange students, professors and staff with whom she worked.Judy joined Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in 1974. She served for over 30 years as Wedding Coordinator. She knew so many stories about the interesting aspect of weddings that she could have written a book. She was a faithful member and always attended the 11:00 service sitting in the same pew.Surviving Judy is her daughter Merrit and son-in-law Bill Nelson of Minneapolis, MN. Her sister, Amy (Max) Schaefer of Tigard, OR; her brother Harris (Debbie) Bartz of Buffalo, NY. Nieces Rebecca Kurtz; Kattie Marie Blum; nephews, Chris Schaefer, Ted Schaefer, Charles Bartz and Jason Bartz and many aunts, uncles and cousins.Judy is preceded in death by an infant sister in 1945, her mother in 1996 and her father on July 26, 2007.
