Joanne Brua, age 67, of McIntosh, Minnesota passed away on Saturday, May 19th at Merit Care Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 24th at 2:00 PM at Mount Carmel Free Lutheran Church in McIntosh with Rev. Dale Mellgren officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the McIntosh Community Center, and for one hour before the funeral at the church. Interment will be at the church cemetery, and the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home serving McIntosh is in charge of the arrangements. Sympathy messages may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Joanne Gudrun Salvhus was born March 3, 1940 in Polk County to parents Andrew and Minnie (Dyrdahl) Salvhus where she was raised and graduated from McIntosh High School in 1957. She attended nursing school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse.In 1963 she married her loving husband, Glen Brua and began a life-long career as a nurse at the Mac Manor Nursing Home. Joanne's main focus was her family and faith in God. Even through personal difficulties she never lost her faith and always offered support, guidance and encouragement. She loved spending time with her children and her grandchildren, quilting, gardening, playing piano and reading her Bible and devotion daily. Joanne was active in her church spending her time as an organist, Sunday school teacher, and active in Ladies Aide. Joanne was a positive and encouraging influence on everyone she met, always willing to lend a helping hand. She always put others first in her life. Because of her strong faith in God, family often referred to her as the family's "prayer warrior".On Saturday, May 19, 2007 Joanne passed away at Merit Care Hospital in Fargo at the age of 67 years.She is survived by her husband, Glen of McIntosh, and six children, Tammy (Daniel) Miciewicz of Kalispell, MT, Timothy (Laura) Brua of Corinth, TX, Todd (Dawn) Brua of Thief River Falls, MN, Tiffany (Ethan) Weiby of Carpentersville, IL, Travis (Jamie) Brua of Fosston, MN, and Tricia (Chris) Hove of Fosston, along with 12 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Also surving are four siblings, Arvid (Lori) Salvhus of Mahnomen, MN, David (Sandy) Salvhus of McIntosh, Marilyn Hamre of McIntosh, and Dan (Mary) Salvhus of McIntosh.She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Minnie Salvhus, and sister-in-law, Ordelle Brua.She dedicated her life to serving and helping others, and though she will be greatly missed, her faith and love will always be remembered.We love you Mom
