Jerold W. Ostenaa, age 65, of the McIntosh, the Twin Cities and Citrus Heights, CA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his daughters on Tuesday (October 21st) at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday (October 29th) at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh with the Rev. Scott Morey officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Tuesday (October 28th) at the McIntosh Community Center. Family will also greet friends for a half hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Flag presentation will be provided by the McIntosh V.F.W. Post #6891 and the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, serving McIntosh, assisted with the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Jerold Wayne Ostenaa was born on June 6, 1949 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to parents Peter and Ardelle (Jore) Ostenaa. He grew up in McIntosh and graduated from McIntosh High School in 1967. After high school, he attended a bible college in California for one year. Jerry entered the United States Navy and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. After receiving his honorable discharge, he returned home to McIntosh. He spent time in McIntosh, North Dakota and then settled in Blaine, Minnesota where he raised his family. He was a skilled Millwright, working for Ralston-Purina in Minneapolis for 14 years. In 1990, he moved to Citrus Heights, California near his mother and sister.Jerry was a jack-of-all-trades. He loved the outdoors, camping and his dogs. Jerry passed away peacefully surrounded by his daughters on October 21, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis at the age of 65 years.He is survived by daughters. Sarah (Brian) Gilbertson of Elk River, MN, Ingrid Ostenaa (John Farrell) of Maplewood, MN, and Alyson (Daniel) Gilbert of Richfield, MN; grandchildren, Quinton & Grace Gilbertson, Caden, Brennan & Estyn Gilbert; sister, Janna (Mark) Mikkelson of Citrus Heights, CA; nephews, cousins, family and friends also survive.He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Ardelle.
