Jeanette Fenske, age 102, of Fosston, MN, and Lengby, MN, passed away on Thursday, February 4th, at Cornerstone Residence in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9th, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lengby with the Rev. Gene Lillienthal officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service on Monday, February 8th, at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be shared at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Jeanette Evelyn Wandschneider was born on September 3, 1913 in Cass Lake, Minnesota to parents William and Mathilda Steindorf Wandschneider. She was raised in Rabey, Minnesota and graduated from high school in Grand Rapids, Minnesota in 1930. After graduation she moved to Lengby with her family and worked in Lengby, Fosston, Grand Rapids and MinneapolisJeannette met her husband Ralph Fenske when they were members of Choristers in Grand Rapids. They were married February 24, 1952. In 1960 they moved to Lengby. Ralph died on August 17, 1966. Jeanette moved from the farm into Lengby with her two daughters. For many years, she worked at Gutterud's Hartz Store. She continued to live in Lengby until recent years when she lived at cornerstone Residence in Fosston. Jeanette was active in the community, serving as LIC president, ladies aide president and on the city council for many years and was a member of the homemakers club.She had many varied interests. She enjoyed the outdoors especially anything to do with yard work, garden and flowers, providing altar flowers for Sunday services and of course picking berries, any kind but especially blueberries. She was known for her good cooking and much of the food was frozen from her garden. In younger years, she sewed, knitted and duck hunted. Jeanette made friends of all ages and enjoyed keeping in touch with them over the years. She much enjoyed socializing with her friends in Lengby and with all of her extended family, especially her granddaughters and great grandchildren. She will be remembered for her independence, positive outlook, adventurous spirit and genuine kindness. Survivors include her two daughters, Jean (Mark) Bosacker of North Mankato, MN, and Carla Albrecht of Bismarck, ND; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael) Granlie and their children, Gracyn, Avery, Evan and Liam; and Kristine (Peter) Moch and their children, Benjamin, Isaac, and Amelia Jeanette. Nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; her parents; brothers, Herbert, Martin and Walter and infant brother; and sisters, Mata Kilborn and Phronie Olson.
