Jean Sandeen

Jean Sandeen, age 84, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Monday (January 2nd) at First Care Living Center in Fosston, MN. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday (January 7th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston with the Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Asphult Cemetery, rural Fosston at a later date. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Jean was born at Gonvick, Minnesota on March 30, 1927 to parents Albert and Nora (nee Clausen). She was baptized in the Lutheran faith. She was raised in the McIntosh area and attended Sunnyside elementary school in Hill River township. She attended and graduated from Fosston High School in 1944. Later, she also completed a multi-year writing course from New York state.She first met Lowell Sandeen in 1947 when he stopped by the family farm. They were later married on July 21, 1949. Together they raised mink and farmed in Hill River for many years. During their years together, they raised 3 children on the family farm. Connie (James) McLinn of Hanover, Minn., Howard of Brooklyn Park, Minn., and Harold of McIntosh. Jean also had one grandson, Robert Sandeen, of Oklahoma City. Lowell passed away in 1996.Jean enjoyed travelling, gardening, reading and being with her family. She travelled through much of the western United States and twice visited her cousins in Norway on trips that included stops at Iceland and Denmark.She is survived by 3 children and one grandson. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one sister, Frances.She will be missed by her family and friends.
