Janis Turner, age 73, of rural McIntosh, MN, passed away on Sunday (November 7th) at her residence. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday (November 12th) at Immanuel Lutheran Church in McIntosh with the Rev. Mark Peske officiating. Interment will be in New Sweden Cemetery, rural McIntosh. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home serving McIntosh and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Janis Marie Grimm was born on June 8, 1937 in Red Lake County, rural Brooks, Minnesota to parents Orville and Marie (Magoon) Grimm. She grew up and attended rural school in the rural Brooks area. Janis was united in marriage to Alvin Turner and they lived in Minneapolis before moving to their farm near McIntosh where they lived for many years. Alvin passed away in 1977.Janis farmed with her husband and held various other jobs including working on a mink ranch and at the Northern Pride Turkey plant in Thief River Falls, Minnesota.She loved the outdoors especially deer hunting (squirrel hunting) and fishing with her best friend, Jim Bendickson. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with Jim, her family and friends.Janis passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at her home in King Township, rural McIntosh, Minnesota at the age of 73 years, four months and 30 days.She is survived by her daughter, Connie (Rico) Austin of Scottsdale, AZ; one son, Wade Turner of Las Vegas, NV; one grandson, Colten Turner; special friend, Jim Bendickson of Oklee, MN; three sisters, Pearl Johnson of McIntosh, Ruby (Irvin) Christianson of Trail, MN, and Eileen Christianson of Oklee, MN; one brother, Darryl (Dolores) Grimm of Brooks, MN; one sister-in-law, Charlotte (Gordon) Leaf of Bloomington, MN; and many other relatives.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and four brothers, LeRoy, Duane, Douglas and Curtis.
