Jacques Taljaard, age 37, of Fosston, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday (June 21st) at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday (June 27th) at Bethel Assembly Church in Fosston with Pastor Jon Marx officiating. Family will greet friends from noon until the time of the service on Monday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Jacques Jacobus Taljaard was born on November 21, 1973 in Germiston, South Africa to parents Jasper and Katherine (Jones) Visser. He grew up and attended school in Germiston. Following school, Jacques served his native country in the South African Armed Forces. He then owned and operated an irrigation business and worked in security. He moved to the United States in 2008.He was united in marriage to Christina Nienaber on January 26, 2010. Together they were raising their family in Fosston. Jacques was most recently employed with Earthloop Geothermal Systems in Fosston running the directional drill. He was known as a "jack of all trades" and was a dedicated and hard worker who was said to be "worth two men" at his job. Jacques enjoyed woodworking and a good cup of coffee. He also took great joy in taking the kids fishing. Most of all, Jacques was a devoted family man who put everyone ahead of himself. He was a wonderful husband, father and dear friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.Jacques is survived by his loving wife, Tina of Fosston; five children, Jano of South Africa and Rhiana, Jonathan, Chloe, and Raven, all at home in Fosston; his mother and step-father, Katherine (William) Botha of South Africa; Tina's parents, Kesie Johnson, Randy (Karen) Nienaber, and Rob (Sandy) Mayer; one brother, Christo Taljaard of South Africa; and one sister, Nicolette Loubser, both of South Africa. Also are sisters-in-law, Anna (Kevin) Mandt, Erika (Paul) Kalinoski, Allison Mayer and Trisha (Matt) Engebrettsen; and brothers-in-law, Brandon Nienaber (Laura Christianson), Art Nienaber, Ted Dibblee (Samantha Schaumburg) and Steven Fick. Other family and many friends also survive.He was preceded in death by his father.Honorary Pallbearers will be Jacques children.
