Irene Horacek, age 87, of Erskine, MN passed away on Wednesday, January 2nd at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, January 9th at 10:00 AM at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine with Rev. Michelle Miller officiating. A time of gathering for family and friends will be held for one hour before the memorial service, and the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Erskine is in charge of the arrangements.Irene Olive Carter was born on January 28, 1925 to parents Samuel and Isabel (Watkin) Carter in Richmond Hill, NY. She attended PS #47 in Richmond. After graduating in 1942, she attended business school and then worked for Peiser & Sons Jewelers.In 1947, she married Robert Groeber, and they made their home in East Meadow, NY. They had five children: Ethel, Robert, Patricia, Bonnie, and Glen.She was employed at The Salisbury Country Club as a Banquet Waitress for many years, and in 1979 she married Edward Horacek, and they came to make their home in Erskine, MN.Irene enjoyed cooking and craft making and was a great baker and enjoyed entertaining. Her great love was repairing and restoring antique dolls; she collected and enjoyed many dolls over her lifetime. Irene and Edward attended the United Methodist Church in Erskine.On Wednesday, January 2, 2013 Irene passed away at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erkine at the age of 87 years.Irene is survived by: Daughters Ethel Pangiarella of Mentor, MN, Patricia Gold of NY, Bonnie (Bill) Corbin of NC and Son Robert (Tina) Groeber of NJ, Stepdaughters Kathy (Rick) Carlson of OH, Peggy (Bill) Shaefer of NY, and Stepson Russell (Mary) Horacek of McIntosh, MN, and nineteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by: Husband Edward, Son Glen, Sisters Marion and Ethel, Brother Ronald, and Stepdaughter Laura Hinman.
