Irene Carver, age 89, of the Fosston/McIntosh area, passed away on Sunday (August 30th) at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston, MN. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday (September 12th) at the McIntosh Community Center with the Rev. Ryan Rasmussen officiating. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Fosston. Friends may call for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the community center. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, serving McIntosh. Messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Irene Magdeline Mintz was born on August 13, 1920 in Wishek, North Dakota to parents Art and Caroline (Whittmyer) Mintz. She grew up in the Wishek area and moved with her family to the Fosston/McIntosh area in 1936.She was united in marriage to Orison Carver on November 17, 1937. Together they raised their family and farmed in Sletten Township south of McIntosh. They retired in the early 1970's. Irene also worked as a nurse's aide for 17 years at the McIntosh Manor Nursing Home. Orison passed away on April 7, 2000. She was a resident of Poplar Meadows in McIntosh and was currently residing at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston.Irene was a collector. Some of her favorite collections include lighthouses, chickens, elves and trolls, and guardian angels.Irene passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2009 at First Care Nursing Home at the age of 89 years.Survivors include her three children, Dwayne (Gloria) of McIntosh, Allen (Shirley) of McIntosh, and Donna (Richard) Larson of Winger, MN; 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive.She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one brother, Alvin Mintz; and sister, Lavina Mintz Baker.Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Irene's grandchildren and great grandchildren.
